Day 22 of 100 Days to Greatness

The mind works on three levels: the conscious, the subconscious, and the unconscious.

Today we look at a few activities of  the conscious mind.  The conscious mind has four processing stages.  Those are: perception, association, evaluation, and decision making.  These do not exhaust the study of the mind; however, these four processses are good place to start.   We perceive and gather information based on our personal views and through the sensory system.   These perceptions are based on our five  senses.  The rational part of the mind interprets and investigates incoming data.  The interpretation by the rational mind goes to your data bank  of past experiences and learned patterns of thinking to determine if there is any familiarity with stored data.  The evaluation takes place by seeking to understand if  and how this new data may effect you.  The decision making will determine your course of action, should you respond or is this for someone else to decide.  These four processes play an important part of how you communicate with coworkers, friends, and family.  They work together instantaneously continuously throughout every day and can make your challenges more difficult or your dreams a reality.  You choose by thinking about your thinking, knowing that if you change your thinking you can change your life.  Start today

Day 21 of 100 Days to Greatness

Beware of scotoma’s.

So what is a scotoma?  Scotoma’s develop as a result of a preconditioned and learned explanation of what is.   Scotoma is a Greek word for altered vision or blindness.  Everything that you have learned or have been taught has been by way of education, modeling, and/or mentoring.  In other words when you see something, your eyes reflect off the object and then signals the brain, and the brain will interpret what you see based on the recall of what you have been taught.  The danger about scotoma’s is that you always think you are seeing the truth.   Remember we will always respond in accordance to what we believe to be true. People who have a scotoma will not see what others around them see easily.   Just like you’ve been conditioned to see things a certain way, you have been conditioned to believe things a certain way. There is a filter of how you have been conditioned to believe.  Mind conditioning happens continuously, so in order to change the way you think you must get a fresh perspective about things.   You must ask yourself what are my scotomas concerning success and the ability to reach my goals.   Change your thinking to thoughts that reflect positive, productive, and results driven thinking that lead to success.  Be aware (beware) of the scotoma’s.

Day 20 of 100 Days to Greatness

The funny thing about success is that if you refuse to accept anything but your best, more than likely you will find your best success ~ CoachDSA

So what is success anyway?   Much of our success has been set by the standards of other people.  Today I’d like to challenge you to discover what success truly means to you.  You can only do this by getting clear on what is most important  to you.  Once you are clear on what is most important to you, you can then determine how you will measure success.  You must determine if your success will be measured quantitatively or qualitatively?  In other words do you measure success by your material possessions or by the quality time you have to spend with the people you love.  Do you measure success by the title you hold at work, or the people you help in life?  Success can be a lifestyle congruent with your core values and brings balance between your personal and professional life.  The beauty of success is that you get to decide what successs means to you.  Be original, create a life you love.

Day 19 of 100 Days to Greatness

“We can always find something to be thankful for, and there may be reasons why we ought to be thankful for even those dispensations which appear dark and frowning.”  ~Albert Barnes

In the mist of calamity there is something to be thankful for, in the mist of despair there is something to be thankful for, and when you think the worst has happened, there is something to be thankful for.  When we live to see another day we have an opportunity to create afresh that which we desire to see and to be.  Be thankful for every day for it is a gift.   Remember happiness does indeed enlarge the heart and sadness will open your soul.  It is in the times of darkness that the light shines brighter.  Enjoy your life, love your career, and cherish your relationships; and be thankful for what you have it is the foundation for what’s to come.  Give thanks!

I am thankful for what I am and have;  my  thanks giving  is perpetual

As we enjoy the warmth that this season brings, let us be mindful of others who have lost love ones.  Remember those families that are lacking the turkey and sides and a home full of love.   Above all let us give thanks in all circumstances, this is Gods will for us in Christ Jesus.  (1 Thes 5:18)

Blessings to you and your family.

Day 15 of 100 Days to Greatness

Change what is possible by changing the way you think.

The realization of the spoken word is evident in nature and life.  The words we speak create our  reality.  The reality of unseen forces are effected by our inner dialogue, our thinking.  We must ask ourselves if our selftalk is damaging, limiting, or inaccurate. In many cases it is all of these things.  To become successful the inner dialogue must take a right turn on positive. This dialogue needs to be accurate, affirming, and constructive.  When we have inspiring self dialogue we can grow from the inside outward.  Examine your selftalk and learn to accept where you are as part of the journey of where you are going.

Day 14 of 100 Days to Greatness

All that you achieve and all that you fail to achieve is the direct result of your thinking.

If you are looking to improve in any area of your life, you are desiring to find success. Finding success requires that you grow on the inside before you can overcome the things on the outside. Part of this growth and development has everything to do with your self-concept. A correct and accurate self-concept must be developed and increased for sustainable change. You must understand there is a correlation with self-concept and the use of your potential. The task now becomes, to change your self-concept and take the opportunity to reach your full potential.  Do it now! Start wherever you are.
